This exhibition is co-organized by the Neue Galerie New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Christian Witt-Dörring, Curator of Decorative Arts for Neue Galerie New York, who also organized past Neue Galerie exhibitions, including Dagobert Peche and the Wiener Werkstätte, Viennese Silver: Modern Design 1780-1918 and served as co-curator of Vienna 1900: Style and Identity. "Today, it is impossible to imagine Vienna 1900 without the influence of Moser." "As a graphic artist, designer, and one of the foremost proponents of the Vienna Secession movement, Koloman Moser helped define the art of his time," said Ronald S. "Often overshadowed by the more famous Josef Hoffmann, Moser will be a discovery for many." "With this exhibition, we present the first American museum show devoted entirely to Koloman Moser," said Renée Price, Director of the Neue Galerie. This show surveys the sum of Mosers decorative arts career, comprising important interior design commissions, examples of graphic design, furniture, textiles, jewelry, metalwork, glass, and ceramics, many of which are illustrated by rare preparatory drawings and prints. From May 23 to September 2, 2013, the Neue Galerie New York will present a monographic exhibition devoted to the Austrian artist, designer, and Wiener Werkstätte co-founder Koloman Moser (1868-1918). ![]()
